The Ross Brigade web site was started to provide a one place location for data on the 6th Texas Cavalry Regiment, CSA. Because so much of the Whitfield - Ross Texas Cavalry Brigade is lost or unknown the site was expanded to put as much in one site on the web as could be accomplished and make it free for Educators, Students, Historians and Genealogist. As time goes on the need for the sit becomes more apparent. From looking for my kin the site has come a long way. It is my sincere hope that all who use this data, do so in good faith and help the site grow. Suggest and contribute. I make nothing from this work, so your will be contributing for the future.
Another site of interest is The American Civil war at http://www.factasy.com/civil_war/. This is another site that has great value.
The first site provided is the Data and History of the Whitfield - Ross Texas Cavalry Brigade. Here is the basic Muster Roster, a short history sumerized from many sourses. Next I highlite the Atlanta Raids by Sherman' Cavalry. Here Ross and his brave band gave the all twice and almost paid the ultimate sacrifice. The Nash Farm Battlefieldalso pertains to the Atlanta Raids. Next is all of the source material that I know of, and some I have not seen in the Bibliography. Next are the Battles that the Regiments fought through. Then a short Biography of all the officers that I have identified and a Master Muster Roster.
Now take this process for the Four Regiments:
The 27th Texas Cavalry Regiment, CSA (Also known as Whitfields Legion or 1st Texas Legion)
The 27th includeds individual details, and Regimental data. This material expands the normal roster with individual war time data on each soldier. As times allows individual genealogy data will also be added. A detail breakdown of data related to company KIA, WIA, Died, Discharged, Deserted and more is added at the bottom of eavh roster. A detailed one page summary is listed at the bottom of the roster lists.
